Honda Jazz Sun Damage Respray -- Hood, Bumper & Headlights

Honda Jazz Sun Damage Respray -- Hood, Bumper & Headlights

Cyprus sun is the single biggest enemy of car paint. After years of direct UV exposure, this light-blue Honda Jazz came in with textbook sun damage: the clear coat had failed on the hood, the bumper paint had oxidised into a chalky finish, and the headlight lenses had gone cloudy. Multi-panel respray job -- exactly the kind we handle every week.

What Was the Damage?

Sun damage isn't one single failure -- it's several stacking on top of each other. On this Jazz:

  • Hood: Clear coat peeling in large patches (the white/chalky blotches visible in the before photo). Once the clear coat fails, UV reaches the base colour and oxidation accelerates fast.
  • Front bumper: Paint had lost all shine and gone slightly rough to the touch -- classic sign of heavy UV oxidation across the whole panel.
  • Headlights: Cloudy, yellowed lenses from UV degradation of the polycarbonate. Reduces night-time visibility noticeably.

How Did We Fix It?

All three panels needed their own treatment:

  • Hood respray: Sanded down to a clean substrate, primed, base coat matched to the factory Honda code with computerised colour matching, clear coat applied, cured overnight. Full panel -- not a patch job.
  • Bumper respray: Removed, prepped, painted to match the fresh hood, clear-coated, refitted with correct alignment.
  • Headlight restoration: Progressive wet sanding through finer grits, machine polish to clarity, UV-protective clear coat application.

All in: three working days of shop time to allow proper cure between stages.

Why Does This Happen in Cyprus?

We see this level of damage several times a week. Cyprus gets roughly 3,300 hours of sunshine per year -- some of the highest UV exposure in Europe. Cars parked outdoors without covers typically develop this damage in 8-12 years depending on original paint quality and colour.

Darker metallics suffer first. Hoods and roofs go before side panels because they take the most direct sun. If you can see clear coat failure starting on your hood, it spreads -- don't wait for it to reach the roof.

What Does a Job Like This Cost?

Multi-panel sun-damage pricing depends on panel count, colour complexity (solid vs metallic vs tri-coat), and headlight condition. Every respray comes with our 6-year paint warranty -- the strongest in the Cyprus market.

How Long Does It Take?

For this scope (hood + bumper + headlights): typically 2-3 working days. The actual spray work is only a few hours per panel, but proper curing between coats and between panels means we don't rush. We send progress photos via Viber or WhatsApp so you always know the status.
